Taxpayers Beware of Fraudulent Mailing

A fraudulent solicitation was recently mailed to many Cook County taxpayers regarding a property’s Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC). The letter states it is from the Assessor’s Office and that the county will provide a 5% property tax discount if taxpayers fax a copy of their bank statement. This letter is fraudulent and was NOT sent by the Cook County Assessor’s Office. If you received this letter and have already submitted your bank information, we suggest you contact your bank immediately.

The deadline to file a 2015 Model Home Application, FOR ALL TOWNSHIPS, by statute, is Thursday, April 30th 2015.
